Izabella's Family

We are Carey and Krista! We recently had the absolute best surprise blessing of adopting a beautiful newborn baby girl with Down syndrome. We have named her Izabella Marie, and she continues to amaze us every day! We are so in love.

We have three biological boys: Jacob (7), Joshua (5) and Jesse (2). We knew our family was not complete and we prayerfully awaited a baby girl. We felt led to pursue adoption, and eventually felt a tug on our hearts to pursue special needs adoption. Specifically Down syndrome, as our 2 year old nephew also has Down syndrome.

We got in contact with Stephanie at NDSAN and our lives were quickly changed. It was only a few months from putting our name on the registry to hearing about our daughter’s situation. We received her situation on a Thursday afternoon and prayed over it and this specific baby girl. By Saturday at noon we had received notice that we had been matched and we drove out of state on Sunday to go meet our girl in the NICU! She was two weeks old and ready to be discharged from the hospital once we met her. We had the blessing of meeting her birth mom and her birth grandfather at the hospital as well. It was such a whirlwind of events, and we have only been home with her for about a month and she’s already been on the annual family beach vacation and met all of her cousins! She is the ONLY girl in the family as of right now (with 7 grandchildren total). She is and will always be well loved and protected by all these boys.🥰 She does have some additional medical diagnoses, but she is such a champ and has been amazing us every day with her accomplishments- even at only 2 months old!

We are loving every moment with our sweet Izzy (or as the boys call her Bella Bear). We can’t wait to see where our journey leads!!! We want to thank every single person who has prayed over us or supported us in any type of way! This has been the most amazing journey and our family is so much sweeter with our new little addition and all the love we have felt through this process!
