GLADS, Inc. a 501(C)3, not-for-profit organization, is strictly a volunteer-based organization with no paid employees.  Operating expenses are paid for by the founders.

100% of monies donated to GLADS are paid directly to the organizations/purposes designated by the donors.

Our current primary use of funds is to help offset the cost of adopting children with Down Syndrome, a fee paid by adoptive parents.  These fees are charged by the adoption agencies located in both the birth parents’ and the adoptive parents’ States.

Unfortunately, the average cost for an adoption is now over $15,000.  Shockingly, there are pathetic opportunists who coerce expecting birth parents to sign a “finders fee” agreement that obligates the adoptive parents to pay an additional $16,000!  We are joining with other organizations to help expose these profiteering rascals, by promoting the easy, free connection to organizations such as the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network (www.ndsan.org).

GLADS will pay 25% of adoption costs up to a maximum of $2500 per adoption.  Applications are processed by IDSC (www.theidsc.org), without charge.

In addition to smaller, much appreciated, contributions, we recognize corporate sponsors through specific levels of funding:

Every sponsor is specifically linked to an adoption.  Photos of the newly formed family will be provided when first united and periodically throughout the child’s life.  It is such a rewarding experience to be part of creating a new beautiful family relationship.
