Evan's Family
February 25, 2021
A few years ago we began talking about growing our family. We had two biological children but we felt God leading us to adoption. It was a two year journey of prayer, fundraising, and grant writing. In 2017, Rosabelle joined our family. We were very open but we had not had Down Syndrome adoption in our minds but God had other plans. Wow, are we lucky. We spend our first months learning about Down Syndrome, therapies, feeding tubes, and all that Down Syndrome entails. The past three years with Rosabelle have been amazing. We have enjoyed getting involved in our Down Syndrome community and meeting so many amazing people. We have seen Rosabelle grow and flourish. She has already touched so many lives with her loving spirit. We are so thankful to still have a close relationship with her birth family. We love that when she was born our family grew so much. About a year ago we felt God calling us to adopt again. We really wanted Rosabelle to have a playmate. We knew we wanted another child with Down Syndrome. The next big step was to trust God with funding. He provided so much with Rosabelle’s adoption and we believed He would provide again. We registered with NDSAN and expected to wait a good bit of time, but we were ready. Not only did He provide in giving us a sweet little boy, Evan, in a few short months, but He also provided enough to fund the entire adoption. Evan was already born when we received the call so things moved very quickly. We were very fortunate to have a great connection with his birth family. We flew out to Washington and actually spent several hours at their house talking about Evan. It was truly God’s Hand at work. Evan has been with us now for about one month and we couldn’t be happier. All of our children love him dearly and fight over who gets to hold him. He has such a sweet spirit and is so easy going. We love all his smiles after he wakes up, his cooing, and the way he likes to hold our hand when falling asleep. We have truly been blessed beyond our wildest dreams. We are extremely grateful for GLADS and their support of our adoption. Financing an adoption is hard but thanks to GLADS, some of that burden was eased through their support. Thank you.
